Marinduque 3D2N Itinerary

Marinduque 3D2N Itinerary
Marinduque is dubbed as the heart of the Philippines due to its geographical location that looks like a heart shape. The heart of the Philippines has such an overpoweringly and attractive destinations that magnets the adventurers and nature lovers. It has a power to arouse interest for the tourists to visit in. Marinduque is known for eminent mountains, agricultural lands and pristine islands and beaches which where can be safely to swim on and dive on. Marinduque is part of MIMAROPA region in Luzon and best known for its grandiose celebration of the Moriones Festival during the Holy Week. Despite its erratic ferry schedule, this is a destination that will find hard to leave!
To further enhance the knowledge, personality and skills of the 4th year BS Tourism Management students, the school administrator organized ECOTOURISM EXPOSURE for the students last November 9-11 2018 (Friday-Sunday) at Marinduque with Maniwaya Island Tour as part of the course requirement in Eco Tourism and be more knowledgeable in the field of tourism industry.

The departure time from Tarlac City on November 8, 2018 is exactly 2pm. We took a bus ride going to Avenida Terminal. Toyota Hi-ace Van arrived and transferred us in General Luna Port at 6am.

Day1- Island Hopping at Ungab Rock Formation and Palad Sand Bar
The boat transferred us in Maniwaya Island at exactly 8:40am. We stayed in Cabana accommodation at Wawie’s Beach Resort, took a quick breakfast and rested for a little longer. The resort is proud of their white sand. Maniwaya Island is the main tourist attraction in the province of Marinduque and it is specifically located in the Municipality of Santa Cruz. It proudly promotes the beautiful fine white sand beaches of the island that reflects the bright glow of the sun during day time and be mesmerized by the crystal clear turquoise water of its seashore.

We ate lunch and rested for a little bit to get ready for the Island Hopping. The boat transferred us in Ungab Rock Formation. The magnificent Ungab Rock Formation is found in Mongpong Island of the Municipality of Santa Cruz. It took half hour from Maniwaya Island. The place is really wonderful, attractive and mesmerizing as if there’s a spell.

After taking pictures, we moved to the next destination which is the famous Palad Sand Bar. Palad Sand Bar has the same type of sand and usually appears every early in the morning. It depends if the time is on low tide. And luckily, even if it is in the late afternoon, I got the chance to witness and discovered the fantastic Palad Sand Bar of Marinduque! I took pictures and of course to share it on social media. It is once in the lifetime! We enjoyed the clear turquoise green water and goofed around.

Afterward, we back to Maniwaya Island and had a dinner. We also have socialization with floral theme. It was so nice to bond with my classmates and instructor together with the other people. Marinduquenos are also bighearted when it comes to the tourists. They are very warm and hospitable as if they knew you for a long time and will treat you like a family. Furthermore, Marinduque is also one of the safest provinces in the Philippines due to very low crime rate.

Day 2- Round Marinduque Tour
We’re up around 5am to eat breakfast and of course for the next trip. At exactly 7am, the boat transferred us to the Port of Santa Cruz. It took one hour from the Maniwaya Island. Toyota Hi-ace Van is our transportation for the Marinduque Roundtrip Tour. The first destination was the oldest church in the municipality and it is where the procession starts and ends during Good Friday and Moriones Festival the Santa Cruz Marinduque Parish Church.

In front of Santa Cruz Marinduque Parish Church is the Morion Statue, the land-marker of Santa Cruz.

We of course decided to buy pasalubong in Rejano’s Marinduque Deli. I have to try their famous Arrowroot. The goods were very inexpensive so you guys must try here.

The Boac Cathedral is kilometers away from the last destination but it is worth the wait because of the admiration I have to the appearance of the church. Boac Cathedral has served in several instances as the refuge of the people of Marinduque. People attribute many miracles here hence, this Cathedral is dedicated  to “Mahal Na Birhen Ng Biglang Awa”

There are several eateries in Boac-Malusak but we preferred in the place which where look like an old house from the Spanish time, in the Kusina sa Plaza. Inside the eatery are the people who are very accommodating and friendly to the tourists. I ordered adobong atay paired with yummy and sweet dessert.

After lunch, we went to the next destination which is the St. Joseph Parish Church in Gasan.

Torrijos Luneta Park is on its way. As expected, the sea is very peaceful and relaxing. It is the perfect place for removing bad vibes because I believe that “Vitamin Sea is all you need.”

The last but not the least destination for today is the famous Poctoy White Beach. Poctoy White Beach is combination of clear blue water and sand that is rough to fine texture. The whole place is perfect making it very photogenic, picturesque and instagramable not only for millennials but to everyone. The amazing view from the beach of the province’s highest peak, the Mt. Malindig, is also a superb addition!

Day 3
Last daaaaaaaaay here in Maniwaya. It’s so sad to think that everything has its end. I woke up early in the morning to enjoy and take pictures because there’s a saying “Take nothing but pictures.” We ate lunch in dahon ng saging to be more enjoyable. It rain for a bit but it didn’t stop us from eating and I think that it was one of the best parts that I had experienced here in Maniwaya Island.

After lunch, we packed our things and the boat transferred us in the last destination which is the Balanacan View Deck. Marinduque has the potential to be one of the richest provinces in the Philippines when it comes to tourist spots. From the view deck, you can see the islands and the seas that look like a painting. It is art that given by our Almighty God and I am one of the luckiest people that witnessed this creation.

Upon arrival at the Balanacan Port of Mogpog, Marinduque, you’ll be greeted by the largest statue of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception who is also the patron saint of the capital of Marinduque.

We took M/V Virgen de Penafrancia IX (RORO- Roll On/Roll Off) so that the Toyota Hi-ace Van could transfer us in Manila. While we are heading home inside the van, we stopped in Bulaluhan Eatery to eat dinner. The food was okay so my tummy became happy. After our session, we took a bus ride and went home.

All in all, I enjoyed in Marinduque that is also known as the “heart of the Philippines.” The body pain and lack of sleep are nothing when you’re with awesome and beautiful people.  I will surely get back there but now with my family.

 Until the next adventure!!
